The Cause of the Deficits of the U.S.A (the Kyorin University)

Question:
Was the reason why the United States began to accumulate trade deficits in the 1970s an excess of imports from only European countries or from all over the world, especialy Asian countries?

Answer:
The United States, producing the largest GNP in the world, imported any goods from any countries as far as they had liberalized tneir markets and attended the international free trade system. So, its trade deficits, of course, was caused by imports not only from the European countries but also from those of the Asia.
