    Question
Could you explain the market integration of the EC in the 80s?

    Answer
In the 80s, each of member-states of the EC were faced with difficult economic problems, for example, unremitting stagflation, increasing unemployment, loss of competitive advantage and entrepreneurship in the globalizing market and so on, caused by the excessive welfare statism attending heavy taxation. In order to overcome these problems, they decided to create a large internal market, so to speak the European Market, within which factors of production, goods, services, capital and persons could be transacted and be distributed freely over their borders like a single domestic market.
In 1986 the Single European Act, by which the qualified majority voting in the Council was expanded into significant policy fields to promote legislation of the community law necessary for this project, was signed by governments of the member-states of the EC. Accordingly, the European Market appeared on first January 1993.
We sometimes call this project the European economic or market integration.
