The accession of the Turkey

Question:
Please explain the reason why the problem of the accession of the Turkey has been so complicated?
The Turkey cannot be a member-state of the EU?

Answer:
Both of the EU and the Turkey have impedimentary factors respectively.

On the EU side, it has been developing it's structures from the EEC, only the custom union, the EC, exerting for the internal market and the Euro-Area to the EU including the CFSP and JHA and moreover expected to expand it's policy competences into the defence and the social spheres in future. This comprehensive and variable feature of the EU is obstructive for the accession of the Turkey who in some fields has different aspects and positions from that of the EU

On the Turkey side, the principle of the separation of religion and state, that is common principle among member-states of the EU, has been recently obscure because political parties effected by the Islam has enlarged their influences on the Turks. As not a few European people regard the EU a Christian community, the political inclination to the Islam in the Turkey is also obstructive for the accession of the EU, even though he would satisfy the Copenhagen criteria at the end. Now, Turkey has perplexing alternative of being the member-state of the EU in the West or approaching to the Islamic countries in the East.

So we are not able to predicate the accession of the Turkey at present. The EU or the Turkey would elaborate some resolution for this problem in future.
