In 1930, two Carden Loyd tankettes were imported by the IJA for the research purpose. Later, the IJN imported 4 Carden Loyd tankettes and used them during the Second Shanghai Incident 1937. The IJN called Carden Loyd Mk.VI as "Type Ka Light Tank".
